Geocaching Journal

Just in case you've never heard of it, geocaching is a world-wide adventure sport that uses GPS technology to find hidden treasures called "caches".
I've recently gotten into the sport and I love taking my kids along for the adventure. They love exploring and hunting for the caches. We have had some truly unique finds and sometimes they emerge with pretty cool treasures along the way. While I was out with them recently I thought it would be great to keep a journal of our finds. If you have geocached before you know that you usually log your finds on a website, I do this of course, but there were so many fun times we had that I just couldn't include on a website. Like the time my 4 year old son and I were visiting family in Maryland and went out to hunt for some nearby caches. We ended up on a long adventure through the woods, over streams and beautiful scenery. He found some cool treasures that day and had such a good time he always asks me if we can go back to that same cache.
It is because of times like these that I developed a personal log book or journal to be used specifically for geocaching. There is a form in the journal to fill out for specifics about the cache, like coordinates or location, size, terrain, etc. I also included a special notes section for details about the cache that I want to remember and on the opposite page there is space for a picture or small treasure or just more notes. I thought this would be a great way to document some of my time geocaching, especially with my kids and once it is filled up maybe even pass it down to them one day for them to share with a future generation and remember the time we had together.

Letters from Home by David Snyder

I normally review books but let me self indulge for a moment and tell you about my book, Letters from Home by me, David Snyder. It is a book based on the letters to the churches, in Revelation 2 & 3. The main focus is to remind us that heaven is our true home. The letters from Jesus to the churches speak volumes to us today.
It is my prayer that this book will speak into your life in a real way as we investigate Jesus' words to each church.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a deeper walk with The Lord. I hope it will motivate you to spend time in the presence of God.
You can find this book on amazon.com in both print and kindle versions.

The Dare by David Snyder and Tara Snyder

Let me take another self-indulgence and let you know about my recent book my wife and I collaborated on. It is called The Dare Journal, by David Snyder (me) and Tara Snyder (my wife). It is a designed for Christian teens and young adults to help them get motivated to get into the Word of God and to share their faith. It is laid out similar to "Wreck this Journal", the goal is to challenge the reader with one unique dare daily or weekly, depending on how often you want to do it. You are then encouraged to write about what you did and what you learned from it.
The Dare encourages you in your faith and dares you to step out. Some of the dares are easy, things like writing down prayer requests. Some make you think, like writing down things you like about yourself.
Others are challenging, like taking a nature walk and collecting things that remind you of God (taping the things in the journal, etc)
There are also some very challenging things, paying for someones meal at a fast food restaurant and telling them, "Jesus loves them."
I would recommend our book to students and adults alike, anyone who is looking to be challenged to go deeper in their walk with the Lord.
You can find the book at Amazon.com by searching THE DARE JOURNAL...

Fearless by Max Lucado

Fearless by Max Lucado is a wonderful encouragement in a day and time when fear seems to be on the rise. Lucado tackles fear head on in his book, from fear of not mattering and fear of disappointing God to the fear of life's final moments, he encourages us to face fear with faith. Lucado points out that Jesus made one statement more than any other, "Don't be afraid." This is what Lucado wants us to learn, how to not be afraid in the face of fear.
I personally found Fearless to be a wonderful read in typical Max Lucado fashion. It is full of illustrations and stories that keep you glued to the page all the while encouraging you to live a "fearless" life. Lucado points out, "Fear never wrote a symphony or poem, negotiated a peace treaty, or cured a disease. Fear never pulled a family out of poverty or a country out of bigotry. Fear never saved a marriage or a business. Courage did that. Faith did that. People who refused to consult or cower to their timidities did that. But fear itself? Fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors.
Wouldn't it be great to walk out?"
And this is what Lucado offers to his readers. A chance to walk out and live without fear. I would highly recommend Fearless to anyone.

Students are involved in various outreaches, youth ministry, leadership training, mission trips and more. While at Masters Commission, each morning students take Bible college classes and each afternoon students participate in Hands-on ministry and ministry training. The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews

The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews is an incredibly motivating book packed into a small package. This book takes you through several different stories and explains how each story has a big impact. Though the story in itself may seem small or insignificant, when viewed along with the bigger picture you see how the small story has changed the bigger event and even helped to change the world. The author implores us, "Everything you do matters. Every move you make, every action you take matters." The book is easy to read and loaded with visually stimulating backgrounds. This book would make a wonderful gift for graduates or others who need to be motivated and brought to the realization that their life matters. For instance the author points out that a man named Norman Borlaug was responsible for developing a disease resistant corn and wheat that was able to save countless lives from dying of starvation. But he was influenced by Henry Wallace, former Vice President of the United States, but Henry Wallace was influenced by George Washington Carver and George Washington Carver's life was saved when he was young, and you get the picture.
This is a wonderful book and I would highly recommend it for personal reading or as a gift.
